Kansas City Renaissance Festival! Hazzah!

So, I finally heard back from the KC RenFest~ and I have a booth space there! It is in the guest booth, and is only for one of the weekends, but it's basically for me to try it out, yah know? And for them to try me out, as well. But yesh, I am excited! I've been told for years I need to get into the RenFest, and well, I've wanted to for years as well, I just didn't feel ready to submit and try until last year, and I am glad I was able to get in on my 2nd try of submitting.

If anyone lives in the Kansas City area, I will be at the RenFest the 2nd weekend, September 12th and 13th. My booth is near the front gate, and I'm going to work on a big sign that will say "Samantha Nowak Illustrations". I will have fantasy prints for sell, bookmarks, stickers, and my Enchanted Names (which if everything works out right, I will be fulfilling on site).

I have to say, 2008 honestly was a crappy year for me~ my husband was in Iraq for 5 months, I lost my job and basically wasn't sure WHAT I was going to do...it was filled with uncertainly, fear, and many crappy days. But I am SO happy and thankful that 2009 is turning out so GREAT between the RenFest, getting Adam B. Brave published, being able to do MY own artwork, and just feeling so good about life.

That is GREAT! I mean, I would love to try and get a booth at my local ren. fair, but I don't really do anything that's... fantasy esque.

I go to the KY Renfaire, but I wish I could get to more. That's actually where we went on our honeymoon last year, and we went back this year. I've been to the one outside Cincinatti too, but never Kansas. Good luck!

I know, I'm SO excited! It's going to be a lot of work to get ready, but I feel like this will pay off.

Yeah, I can understand that, they lady actually thought some of my traditional work was digital and was a little iffy about that until I explained to her that it WAS traditionally done~ so if you're stuff isn't super fantasy-esque, they may question it.

Have you ever done a local con? Probably not anime (I've done those and I do OK, but it's still not the right group of people for my personal art), but perhaps a fantasy or sci-fi con? That is, if you are wanting to get into that sort of thing. ^^

Oh my gosh! You're kidding me!!!? I used to live in KC...well....I still do...when I visit my dad. My friend and I go to the KC renaissance festival every year. Now I'm definitely going to have to schedule with her to go during that time frame. I always love looking at the art booths, and I definitely hope I get to stop by yours.

Glad to hear that this year is going well for you! I agree, 2009 has been pretty great.
